Poem #16 of 100 – Song Parodies

(From November 2018 through March 2019, I wrote one poem a day for 100 days at my Facebook page. While I get my act together to return to ranking things, I will be reprinting the poems here. I’m currently writing another 100 poems. Rankings will resume soon)

Legally
A parody
Pokes fun at its source song
You’ll owe money
If it’s funny
Just because the words are wrong
Fewer will snicker
If there’s no flicker
Of recognition of what you mock
Don’t pick obscure
(Deep cuts? Demure!)
Popular songs are your stock
Not my dominion
But in my opinion
Avoid themes that are lewd or crude
You’ll be sharing
You shouldn’t be caring
If your science teacher might think it rude
I’ve written a hundred
The songs that I’ve plundered!
I know of the things of which I speak
Gaze in the abyss!
Parody “One Kiss”
And amuse your homeroom for a week
