Poem #33 – Goodnight Moon

(From November 2018 through March 2019, I wrote one poem a day for 100 days at my Facebook page. While I get my act together to return to ranking things, I will be reprinting the poems here. I’m currently writing another 100 poems. Rankings will resume soon)

when at last the last bug species’ passed
we gassed both our pollinators and those pests

former forest stumps ignite in flames
brush lit for the lulz lights like serious burns

good news – we scored political points
so don’t pout about that flinty lake huron

we opt to wait out the rising waves
car, canoe and copter arrive – brush them off

children were not able to thank us
none needed – it wasn’t for them after all

all the money’s been made – Thank Heavens!
then moon will say “goodnight earth – we’re the same now”
